The Engineering Design process is a fun way to explore, observe, question, predict and investigate. The Engineering Design process uses STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to help engineers solve problems. You will get to use the Engineering Design process to solve an engineer problem for a story character in a folktale.
Listen to one of the folktale below and determine the problem(s) the character faces in the folktale. Then use the Engineering Design Process to create a structure to help the character solve the problem. To help you along the way, watch each section of your folktale video connected to the part of the design process. Please ask Mrs. Ryan for the materials you will need to complete the challenge. Good Luck!

Comparing Folktales
There are many versions of a folktale. Authors sometimes change the characters, setting and story events of the folktale. The lesson is usually the same.
You will read another version of the folktale. Then you will complete the comparison chart Mrs. Ryan will give to you. You will write or draw pictures showing how the folktales are the same and how they are different.
