Books On-Line and Copyright
When sharing books virtually with students please be mindful of copyright laws, publisher permissions, platforms and privacy settings. This includes reading a book over video or a learning platform, sharing a link to someone else who is reading, as well as what type of platform we use to transmit.
We need to respect and follow publisher permissions to remain compliant and respect the livelihood of the creators behind the books we share. Many of the publisher permissions can be found here for use during the pandemic, and it will continue to update and populate with more.
Here is a quick video tutorial to highlight an example what publishers would like people to say at the beginning of their video if they grant them permission to read a book online. As a general rule archiving video read-alouds for long-term use is generally not allowable. Also note: when building Bitmoji libraries, it's best to focus on creating links to books talks or author resources, rather than linking to read-alouds.
Please let me know and I will do my best to help you locate allowable, legal digital copies and read-alouds. Please let me know of any questions you have and also how else I can help you with compliance and sharing literature.
