Summary
Adventure, fate, and a bond between a whale and a human make this story another epic read by this author. A whale is born and sees a human for the first time. Their eyes meet and a bond is created between Toozak and the bowhead whale he names Siku. Siku will never forget the kind eyes of his young companion. Unfortunately, Toozak is tricked into giving Yankee whalers the location to hundreds of Eskimo whales. For his crime he is banished from his tribe and is made to spend the rest of his life protecting the whale Siku from many dangers. Time passes and the the curse/blessing is passed from generation to generation until fate brings the Toozak and Siku back together.
I think others will enjoy this book because: It is an adventure about life in the Artic. Although has a slow beginning, the story does pick up in pace. The author also quickly helps you to feel like you are standing right there in the beauty of the Artic landscape and in the story's action!
