The Library Media program provides opportunities for students to grow as readers and to become effective users of ideas and information. The program is built around the principles set forth in the American Library Association 21st Century Learning Standards and the Common Core Standards. It supports the learning of all students and promotes reading and the use of resources for both information and recreational needs. In addition, the program supports teaching students the skills necessary to locate, use, synthesize, apply, evaluate and share information. These skills are embedded in the Common Core standards as students gain increasing expertise through each grade level and are a vital component of lifelong learning.
In addition to learning skills, student apply them through everyday activities in the library, in their classroom, at home and in the community. The library often is able to enhance these learning experiences through other library happenings! Please read the library eNewsletters for updates to what students are learning in the library, for special library events, and for other library happenings.
